Prompt Shield: a Chrome extension for reviewing text before sharing it.
A working Manifest V3 browser extension by RightCyber. It helps a person review selected text, replace matching patterns and choose what to copy or apply.
The task
People often move text from a business workflow into an AI chat or another browser tool. A review step can help them notice patterns they want to replace before sharing. Prompt Shield puts that step inside Chrome, close to the text they are working with.
What we built
The extension includes a quick popup, a larger composer, policy settings and content scripts on supported pages. Local pattern scanning proposes replacements; aliases and policy packs support repeated use. The user reviews the output and chooses Copy or Apply. A background service worker handles the extension lifecycle.
How the workflow stays under user control
The scanning workflow runs locally and does not require a backend account. The extension does not autonomously send a message or guarantee that sensitive information has been removed. A pattern match is a prompt for review, not proof that the result is safe to share. Supported pages, permissions and replacement behaviour need testing as sites change.
Current status and what it demonstrates
Prompt Shield is an implemented private-beta build installed unpacked for testing. We are not advertising an approved Chrome Web Store listing. It demonstrates browser interfaces, content-script integration, local processing and a deliberate confirmation step—useful building blocks for a custom browser tool.
